Our Story
Our story began in 2016, when our founders, Julia and Serge, were running a job aggregator with around 5 million pages. Despite their best efforts, they hit a wall: SEO traffic had plateaued, and no agency could offer a fix. So they decided to dive into technical SEO themselves.
Step one was obvious: get a crawler. Then they checked the prices of existing SaaS crawlers and did the math: buying a jet plane would have been cheaper. (The name JetOctopus is a small monument to that invoice.)
So Serge, an engineer by background, built one. What started as internal models for auditing their own site quickly showed the potential to become something much bigger. In 2018, Julia and Serge turned that knowledge into a standalone business, and JetOctopus was born. It turned out other people couldn't afford those crawlers either.
Search has changed since then, and so have we. Today it's not only Googlebot reading your pages. GPTBot, ClaudeBot, and PerplexityBot are crawling too, deciding whether AI assistants will mention your brand or your competitor's. JetOctopus tracks them all, so you can see your visibility in classic search and AI search from the same dashboard.
We've stayed proudly bootstrapped since day one and have grown every single year. No investors, no per-seat fees, no artificial limits. Just a toolset for advanced SEO at scale we wish we'd had back in 2016.
